The ICT Unit now forms part of the Ministry of Communications, Works, Physical Development, Public Utilities, ICT & Community Development and reports directly to the Permanent Secretary - ICT. The role of the ICT Unit continues to be vitally important in both setting direction across the government and in monitoring the maturity and development of ICT capability within government agencies.
It is a priority objective of the unit to establish a central point of ICT management to ultimately improve management oversight. In so doing the ICT Unit seeks to increase the government’s focus on whole-of-Government ICT policy creation, covering the Grenada Government enterprise architecture, information management, strategic planning and research. The Unit has also embarked on programs that seek to manage stakeholder engagement and provide aid to government agencies in the implementation of ICT policies, methods and frameworks. We are in the process of developing best practices, guidance, process improvement and training for government agencies and we are continuously gathering and analyzing ICT data from across the sector.
The ever changing Telecommunications, Broadband and Digital landscapes dictate that we increase our focus on the state’s telecommunications strategic direction, broadband roll out and the coordination of digital economy activities.
